AEROPRESS BREW METHOD

by Kristian Ritter September 05, 2021 2 min read

The AeroPress makes an exceptionally delicious cup of coffee that is less acidic than your standard drip pot or even a French Press, and is very easy to use.  The instructions below are just a guide to get you started, you can tweak and change the brewing steps to better suit your needs.  If you have any questions or want to share how you tweaked the guide below we would love to hear from you in the comments section!

HOW TO MAKE AN AEROPRESS:

  1. Remove the plunger and the cap from the chamber.
  2. Put an AeroPress filter in the cap and twist the cap back onto the chamber.  If you don't want paper filters you can get a reusable stainless steel filter that is washable here.
  3. Stand the chamber on a sturdy mug.
  4. Put 2 AeroPress Scoops or 18 grams of fine-drip grind coffee into the chamber. We recommend a hand Conical Burr-Grinder which you can get here.
  5. Pour hot water slowly into the chamber up to the number 2.
  6. Mix the water and the coffee with the stirrer for about 10 seconds.
  7. Fill the chamber the rest of the way to number 4.
    1. Filling the chamber, the rest of the way up will give you an American Coffee.
    2. Leaving the chamber where it is at will give you a double-espresso.
    3. If you would like a latte, add milk after step 6, and then go to step 8.
  8. Wet the rubber seal and then insert the plunger into the chamber and gently press down about a quarter of an inch and maintain that pressure for about 20 to 30 seconds until the plunger bottoms on the coffee. You will hear a hiss when it has been pushed all the way down.
